Frequently Asked Questions
-
I do not believe a digital/online module for theatre training will be as effective – why can’t I sign on just for the physical course?
With the predicted third wave, India’s situation is still very uncertain. That’s why, we have opted for a blended learning format for this PG Course, with partly digital, partly-residential components.
The 1st semester of foundation skills will harness online channels, to ensure that your learning begins in a safe space (as vaccines roll out!).
Since July 2020 our faculty, alumni and others have been participating in different kinds of online and digital training. The methods and approaches vary from in-person training, but they have all found that embodied learning can be just as effective in the digital space.
DSM has worked relentlessly with our Course Leaders and consulted with pedagogy and drama experts from across the world to develop the PG Course curriculum, which has been further optimized for the digital medium and remote learning. We have put together a support structure to ensure that students have access to help, encouragement and feedback whenever they need it. Whether in the digital space or rehearsal room, DSM’s commitment to learning with rigour, focus and collaboration remains steadfast.
The 2nd semester of advanced skills will be residential to help hone your craft in a physical, intense manner.
-
The fees are too high, what are the funding options available?
Yes, we have scholarships and financial aid options that can help fund your education at DSM. We also believe that money should not get in the way of a good education and so we offer EMI facilities and alternative payment structures to the students. Applicants can also apply for scholarships at the time of filling up the application. Scholarship awards are given after carefully reviewing applications and interviewing the students.
In the past DSM has provided scholarships to many deserving students who have gone on to build their careers as actors and theatre-makers.
Don’t let money hamper your dreams of becoming an actor. Speak to us, help us understand your struggles, our Course Advisors are available to guide you through the process. If you’re deserving and ready to be a part of the course, nothing can stop you.
You can reach out to our Course Advisors at (info@thedramaschoolmumbai.in) to discuss your queries.
-
Can I work and do other courses while doing the PG Course?
No, you will not be able to work or participate in any other courses when enrolled for the PG Course. The Post Graduate Certificate Course in Acting and Theatre-making has been designed as a full-time course. DSM firmly believes that taking any time away will affect your performance and interfere with your growth at school.
-
What language will the course be conducted in?
The PG Course will be conducted in English and Hindi. Sessions with international faculty will be in English. The Course Advisor will discuss language support options, if needed, with you at the time of admission.
-
What if I miss a class due to bad internet?
Once admission is confirmed, we advise you to get a dongle from a competent internet service provider. We understand that shaky internet connections, power cuts etc are a reality in many situations. We recommend however that you think through your options and prepare for all eventualities. In an extreme case, if you do miss your sessions due to technical difficulties, you have the option of getting in touch with the Course Coordinator to access recordings and notes from the session.
