Drama School Mumbai and Embodied Poetics are delighted to announce their collaboration for the second series of Unrehearsed Futures conversations.

Unrehearsed Futures is a series of public conversations between heads of drama schools and leading performance trainers from across the globe to discuss and address the new realities of teaching drama. Through these discussions we will look at pedagogical approaches to teaching in the absence of presence, the benefits and challenges of alternative technologies, formats and mediums as well as planning long-term learning journeys against uncertain future conditions.

These conversations started in the month of July. For eleven sessions now, Unrehearsed Futures has brought together leading pedagogues and trainers from USA, Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia to lead an open discussion about the future of drama training in uncertain times. Now we hope to deepen the dialogue on themes and trends that have emerged in the past few months and perhaps work our way towards a plan of action.

The upcoming series is titled: Response-ability: Theatre Pedagogy in Changing Times. It will be curated by Amy Russell, Founder & Director| Embodied Poetics. Amy will also play the role of interlocutor during these conversations where keynote speakers will bring in their diverse approaches to working in theatre and performance during this pandemic.

Drama School Mumbai is also responsible for documenting these webinars in collaboration with participating schools and organizations.

Key Objectives:

  • Initiate a global conversation on drama pedagogy
  • Enable and nurture meaningful exchange between drama practitioners, teachers and students from various drama schools across various countries
  • Create a unified dialogue about global best practices and emerging trends in drama pedagogy and theatre training
  • Give traditional perspectives a global platform and promote cross-cultural syncretism
  • Document divergent and convergent thought and present them in an accessible format for wider use through an online journal and other forms of downloadable content

Key Outcomes:

  • Weekly webinars between two drama pedagogues over Zoom
  • Discussions with the larger theatre community and speakers through Telegram
  • Public Symposium conversing emerging issues and a panel of speakers
